Aging in Place effectively is simply a matter of finding convenient, effective solutions to the particular challenges your love one faces every day.
This recorded webinar and slide presentation offers many smart ideas and devices for effective independent living. It is part of the Safe at Home Series produced by the Virginia Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Commission.
The speaker, Robert W. Krollman, NCC, CRC, holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor he has worked with persons with disabilities for over forty years. Much of his career has been working with the vocational rehabilitation of persons with traumatic brain injury and with improving access to assistive technology devices and services at local, state and national levels.
Some of my favorite devices mentioned in this presentation:
- Shoes with a GPS chip to help find wandering Alzheimer’s patients
- Easy-to–install devices to automatically put out stove fires
- Devices to prevent scalding and flooding
